Hi,

We have multi cloud solution of which we would like to connect Power Platform solutions (Power Automate & Power BI) to leverage on-premise data gateway to connect to source systems hosted on non-Azure platform. Can you please advise whether
  • On-premise data gateway should be installed on Azure VM?
  • On-premise data gateway can be installed on VM provided by other cloud vendors e.g. AWS, Google?
    • If yes - any example available to understand any specific criteria/requirement to be followed [I am familiar with default installation guide from MS]
Thank you,
Ravi

    Hi there!

It does not have to be Azure VM, it can be any Win server or machine that has the required services.  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-install

Yes the gateway can be on AWS E2, Google, etc

    I would recommend a minimum:

    • Windows Server 2019 or later

    • 8 CPU cores (recommended)

    • 8 GB+ RAM

    • SSD storage

    • Reliable, always-on server

Yes. The On-premises Data Gateway is not tied to Azure or an on-premises datacenter. It can be installed on any supported Windows machine that has network connectivity to both your on-premises/non-Azure data sources and the required Microsoft cloud services.
