Applying 'Select' output to a Word or PDF document

Hi,

I have created a Flow that brings together data from two SharePoint lists.  I'm finding it difficult to get the information as seen in the image for 'Select' to display in a word or pdf document that can be attached to an Email so the individual can see their responses.

Error message in full:-

Error from microservice: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN""http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Bad Request</TITLE>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" Content="text/html; charset=us-ascii"></HEAD>
<BODY><h2>Bad Request - Invalid URL</h2>
<hr><p>HTTP Error 400. The request URL is invalid.</p>
</BODY></HTML>

serviceRequestId: a5710ca2-c035-0001-c7ed-8fb0b8a566b0

Hoping these is a simpler solution

It seems that your error happens because you’re passing JSON (from Select) into a document action that expects formatted content, causing the HTTP 400.

Fix it by converting the data to:
    • HTML table (best & easiest), or
    • Word template with repeating section

    Hello @Chris1968,

    I have couple of questions:
#1. What are you passing in the Create file action? (Are you creating HTML file?)
#2. In the Convert file action, are you selecting the File Identifier from the Create file step?
#3. And are you converting it to PDF or Word?

If you're trying to convert HTML directly to Word, that won’t work as expected. The Convert file action doesn’t support that scenario that way.

If your goal is Word/PDF output, a better approach would be:
#1. Use Populate a Microsoft Word template
#2. Then use Convert Word Document to PDF

Could you please share the screenshot of create file action and convert file action?

Let's look at the core error:

    <h2>Bad Request - Invalid URL</h2>
<hr><p>HTTP Error 400. The request URL is invalid.</

If compute never lies, let's troubleshoot:

    1. Check SP site addresses and folder/file paths used in your flow actions. Make sure they are valid, complete, and correctly formatted.
    2. Validate dynamic content with expressions that build URLs or paths. Add Compose actions to output these values before the failing step to verify their correctness.
    3. Safeguard checks in URL parameters. Use expressions like coalesce() to provide defaults.
    4. Encode special characters in URLs if you are building them dynamically.
    5. If the error occurs in a "Move file" or "Copy file" action, verify that the source and destination paths are valid and accessible.

If computer lies - please follow 's suggestion.

I am sure some clues I tried to give. If these clues help to resolve the issue brought you by here, please don't forget to check the box Does this answer your question? At the same time, I am pretty sure you have liked the response!

    Hi,

    Doh!!!!

Made the change and added the ID from the Convert File action

The above was received as an PDF attachment.  Was hoping to see

Something like the below in a table?

    Hi,

    Please ignore my last post.

I forgot to do make the Compose input as an expression.  Which I have now done and the form is looking like how I want.

Thank so much as this has been driving me mad!!🤦‍♂️
