Running Into a Hard Wall Trying to Create Email > Planner Workflow

Effectively what the title says;

- Email comes in
- Email gets sorted into proper folder
- Workflow creates a task on Planner if it has actionable items and populates it with dynamic data and a checklist of to-do items

The problem

I want there to be a link back to the original email on the task. That is easy, but the only two solutions each have a problem I am unable to solve.

Solution 1 - Link as an Attachment/Link

This solution is preferable. I like that it creates a clickable link that can say something along the lines of "View Original Email"
It looks clean and keeps everything tidy, but the problem it creates is that the task treats the link as an attachment and on the board view of Planner the task shows a little icon for Outlook instead of the checklist. There do not seem to be any options anywhere to set the default view of the task to be the checklist and I cannot for the life of me find a workaround

Solution 2 - Raw URL in the Notes Section

This solution is not a bad one, and I dont mind it, but when the task populates with the raw URL text it is not clickable. It just shows up as plain text. However if I copy and paste the text BACK into the notes box it suddenly becomes clickable.

Either of these solutions would be acceptable but I am simply stumped on how to make either one work fully the way I need it to.

I am new here, so I am unsure what the protocol is for asking for help or what anyone would need other than the .zip for the workflow I created.

If anyone could take a look at my workflow and help me find a solution I would very greatly appreciate it

I can't import a flow from someone I don't know into one of our environments. Since there is no screen shot of what you're doing, I'll assume you are trying to create the link to the e-mail within the create task action. It seems odd that you cannot do this when you create the task, but you can add a link to the task after it has been created through the Update task details action:

I am not sure how to get the link to an e-mail, but if the link you've created to the e-mail is a standard link it should work by populating it into the references resource field as I have done with the related SharePoint item link in this flow. If this is what you've done and it is not working, if you can share how you generate the link to the e-mail I can try to see if I can figure out the problem or at least duplicate the issue.

Of course David, I did not think about the safety of uploading stuff from a stranger, sorry, but I can definitely provide some screenshots below.

This is effectively where I am getting stuck I believe. The reference solution was the first thing I tried (and is the preferable method) and it works great, however it then creates an icon on the task when you are viewing the Planner board, and I do not want the icon because I need to see the checklist that is created from the board view.

I think I understand. Maybe... Everything is working except that you want the checklist to show on the Planner board rather than link. I don't know of any way to control that through Power Automate.

    Instead of this:

You want the checklist to display:
So then it displays like this:

I think you'll need to manually open the task and check the box as shown. You may be able to do this through a Graph API call, but I am not sure if that is possible.

So that was something I had tried, but I dont know if I was configuring it incorrectly, or what but I could not seem to get that to work either.

Your understanding is dead on though, that is exactly what I am trying to accomplish
