Power Automate - Copilot Studio Connector

Hi everyone

Just have a question regarding the copilot studio trigger. I'm trying to understand the "sends a prompt to a specified copilot for processing" connector with copilot studio. Please see the image below.

How do you define "conversation ID", "environment ID", and "Body/message"? I've tried looking into the Microsoft Learn website, but it did not really create any concrete examples.

1. "conversation ID"

- I imagine it would link up to maybe a M365 copilot agent (or Microsoft teams chat) once the copilot studio agent has been published. Is my understanding correct? Otherwise, how would you be able to find the conversation ID?

2. "environment ID"

- Is this synonymous to the environment like developer, sandbox, production, and default environment? How does that relate to the copilot studio trigger?

3."Body/message"

- I understand its just the prompt, so I would probably delete the current contents anyways right? And replace with my current prompt?

Just noting that I'm not very experienced with the powerautomate or copilot studio yet so apologies in advance for dumb questions.

Thanks!

Gabriel

Power Automate - Copilot Studio Connector

Hi Gabriel, great questions! Here’s a breakdown of what each parameter means in the “Sends a prompt to a specified Copilot for processing” connector:

    Conversation ID

    • This is used when you want to continue an existing conversation with the same Copilot agent instead of starting a new one.

    • If you leave it blank, the connector will create a new conversation.

    • You typically get the conversation ID from a previous Copilot interaction (e.g., if your flow is triggered by a Copilot response or you store it in a variable).

    • It does not link to Teams or M365 Copilot directly—it’s specific to the Copilot Studio agent you published.

    •

    Environment ID

    • Yes, this refers to your Power Platform environment (Default, Sandbox, Production, etc.).

    • If your Copilot Studio agent is in a specific environment, you can specify its Environment ID here.

    • You can find the Environment ID in Power Platform Admin Center under Environments → Details.

    • If you leave it blank, it will use the environment where the flow is running.

    •

    Body/message

    • This is the actual prompt you want to send to the Copilot.
    • Replace the placeholder with your dynamic content or custom text.
      • Example:
        Summarize the latest sales report

Or use dynamic content like Body from a previous step.
