Hello,

Not sure if this belongs here as the Button with Icon control might not be experimental anymore, but the actual icon control seems to be also changing to Fluent UI icons soon (which is amazing).

For the moment there is only a limited amount of icons available even though the fluent ui icon library on GitHub is very vast.

Will there be a way to propose certain icons from this library or will more icons be added once the classic icon control will be changed into the modern one? I would expect to at least have the equivalent available from the classic icons?

I recommend using the HTML control to embed SVGs, or alternatively, using an image control with SVG. Many designers create icons, and now with tools like ChatGPT, you can easily generate the SVG graphics you need by providing simple inputs. While most developers use image controls, the HTML control offers additional flexibility, including the ability to incorporate animations and enhance the user experience.

Modern Icon Propositions

It's been a year. Do we have any update on the two issues with modern icons?
1) No OnSelect event.
2) Extremely limited icons.

It would be great to get a response from MS here. I'm trying to move over to modern controls, but, honestly, many are missing "prime time" functionality, and it's frustrating to go a year with crickets for a reply.

I actually have multiple scenarios where just having the photo is fine even without the Onselect

However I agree it’s weird as heck

Not having OnSelect is a joke - why would they even release them! Who uses icons without expecting users to click on them?

Is there any update on if the current modern icon will be updated with new icons, or at least have the same icons as before? I'm especially missing the phone icon which is currently not included.

I wasn't aware of the new Icon control, and got very excited. I'll be very pleased to see the fluent library available, I currently make SVG versions of this, and embed them in code, which is a faff and a half!

I'm slightly mystified by this new control though... No hover colour, and no OnSelect property? How are you supposed to implement them?
