Flow off, emails coming in

Greetings community,

I have a rather interesting issue and was wondering if someone had the same one.

Long story short. There was one flow with multiple frequencies, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual. Flow was working.
Made a copy of that flow, stripped it down with Copilot to create a daily frequency flow.
Thought I made it, both flows were sending what they needed to send, but I noticed something.
Daily flow sends an email for the daily task, but also creates a weekly task as well, or quarterly, whatever is due on the following date.
Same goes for the flow with multiple frequencies, it runs itself each day, checks if there is something, sends an email, but also creates a daily task in the Recurring task protocol.
My issue is, even though I created a different flow for daily tasks, the original flow in which there was no daily tasks, either way creates a task in Recurring Task protocol without an email.

From this morning I had to shut down both flows since multiple emails and tasks were created for both daily and other frequencies.
Even shutting down the flows I am receiving emails that some tasks cannot be executed, and those are coming every 5 minutes.
Flows were shut down after they said the run was successful for today.

Any help maybe? I hope you understand the issue.

Thanks a bunch.

As already mentioned, we really need to see the flows so to answer you. I wanted to add some things to look into

    • I would be careful trying to use Copilot to "cleanup" an existing flow.
    • Validate your trigger, specifically the schedule.
    • Do your flows do any type of tracking or updates to the rows, once they are done? So are there any possible overlaps of conditional changes where one is causing an issue for the other
    • A flow cannot call or trigger another flow unless

      1) its specifically a trigger that some type of action like email that would cause it to trigger, and your other flow is doing that. In your cause they are reoccurring so they cannot do this, so that is not accurate as an option

      2) as a child. I am going to guess you didn't make either of them a child of the other, however, it's possible that CoPilot did, but I have to assume you would have noticed that.
    • If you turn off just the second (new one) does the first work properly?

    • Do your flows have any sub "triggers" that should not be there
Once you share the flows, with inputs and outputs, as well as, I am assuming you can look at the 2nd flow to see what it did, it should be super easy to figure out why its sending stuff out.

My guess, if it is, it would be an issue with your get items filtering.

If this helps feel free to ask questions

If it resolves your issue, I'd appreciate if you could mark it and maybe a like

    Cheers

One guess without much information is that one flow may be triggering the other flow so examine your triggers and try to determine if an action in a flow is creating the issue.

As the previous person said there is no way to answer this question without more details and to especially see the flow how its configured, and a flow run where it did what it wasn't supposed too.

For future messages, try to image its a broken car... the mechanic cannot fix it from you explaining it, they need the car.

We need the flow :-) both in design and run mode with simply an explanation of what is not working, as we don't need to read up on copilot etc., keep it simple and clean and you will get fast answers.

Cheers and have a great weekend.

In order to provide assistance, you will need to show both flows and how they are configured.
