Hey there!

So I have a need to build a flow that keeps an eye on a SP Document Library and when files are loaded into it, it looks at the filename and copies the file into the OneDrive of a specific  user (based on the filename) and then send the user an email with a link to the file.. Where would I start on this? It was originally intended to be a PowerShell script but PA feels more of a suitable fit for the ask.

Any help is greatly received!

Thanks!

I am going to start with the most important point.

What is the logic that determines how a file moves. yes i get that you say well it depends on the user.

That is not enough, what is an example of a filename or the patterns you will get? Is the user in some app that triggers the flows? Are you looking to create an Automated Flow that triggers as a file is created/updated?

With an automated flow, how are you going to get the users name/email or whatever you need to... compare with the file name. Again, let's talk in terms of business process not technology solutions.

    1. Dave drops a file in an excel folder
    2. Power Automate is notified a new file is there
    3. Power automates grabs the file name, which will be something like Paul_is_Awesomer_then_the_Other_Paul.xmls
    4. Power Automates takes the users name from..... somewhere and compares it to the file name.
Compares how, just cares if the users name is "in" the file name, like as long as Pau is in it,(not Paul, just Pau) and thats ok?

    5. Power Automate moves it to a predefined folder.

Now, when we need to do the technical, we come to you and ask things like I did in #4, and also to let you know whether its possible.

    Cheers,
    -Michael

If the volume of the migration is huge , prefer using the Power Shell for optimal performance in-terms of cost.
