PowerPages + local development + Portals Web API

Hi all,

we do develop a react application which will be hosted within a power pages page. The development takes place locally and we do want to use the power pages web api for CRUD operations.

Question: Is there any way I can bypass CSFR for the power pages web api? Live would be so much easier if I could perform "real" requests to the api from my local machine. Any other suggestion for local development when working with the Power Pages WEB API?

Thanks.

Hi, I am curious as to why you are choosing this architecture, a few points here:

    • Using React with Power Pages you might face a few issues on liquid instructions as well since some of them use similar syntax
    • If you are doing a custom React app, what's the point on using Power Pages at all? You can just leverage regular Dataverse API to connect to Dataverse (if that's the only reason you are using Power Pages)
    • Answering your specific question around bypassing CSFR, no I don't think that would be possible using local dev/testing - but again, why not move to Dataverse API? Dataverse API is actually more rich/complete than Power Pages API

Using the Power Pages Web API for local development in a React application can be challenging due to the CSRF (Cross-Site Request Forgery) protection in place. However, bypassing CSRF is not recommended because it is a critical security feature to prevent malicious attacks.
