Unable to Import Dataverse Table in Power BI Desktop

Hello,

I’m currently signed into my desktop Power BI using my PowerUp credentials. However, whenever I try to connect to Dataverse to import data I get to see the following screen

When I expand my PowerUp Learning environment, I get asked for credentials again and if I attempt to sign in using my Powerup Learner account and expand my environment, I get the following exception

DataSource.Error: Microsoft SQL: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Details:
    DataSourceKind=CommonDataService
    DataSourcePath=org1c593dcc.crm.dynamics.com
    Message=A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
    ErrorCode=-2146232060
    Number=53
    Class=20
    State=0
    ConnectionId=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

Because of this issue, I haven’t been able to follow along with the Power BI exercises and have only been able to watch the videos. I’m concerned that I won’t be able to complete the final project if this isn’t resolved.

Could you please advise on how to fix this?

Thank you!

    Hi
    some tips:
    • Check you are logged in with your PowerUp programe account in PowerBI desktop before to attempt the connection.
    • If you are on your organization computer some organizations may apply a firewall or other rules to block the connections - check with your IT or work on your personal computer

    Thanks for you reply.

    I am logged into PowerBI Desktop using the PowerUp login. I am trying out on my personal device and not from my work network.

    Unfortunately no luck

    I am wondering if the port 1433 on the SQL Server is not opened

    You're definitely on the right track there.

    This is a common issue and the most likely cause is that there's a firewall rule that blocks access to Dataverse via the TDS endpoint, which listens on port 1433.

    Therefore I'd check if you have any firewall rules that block access to port 1433.
