Planner Update Task Details

Hi,

When using the Update Task Details in Flow there is an additional field called "Reference Alias".

I couldn't find any info about it - what I can do it? What is it for?

Can I use it to reference SharePoint items? Can it be used for something else?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Anonymous,

    The References Alias column is used to describe the reference, as is is shown in the link below:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/planner/

    The field is a Non-required field,and just used to record  the data, if you don't want to record the References Alias, you could leave the field blank.

    Best regards,

    Alice

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    Can you please elaborate what exactly is a “reference”? It is not stated and not clear exactly what does it mean.

    Is it external reference to the task or reference from the task?
    And reference for what exactly? It is quite vague in the documentation

    Dudil,

    Could you elaborate further?  I'm having a similar problem figuring out how to use the "Update Task Details" action.  Perhaps, could you provide an example of how to appropriately use these functions?

    What I'm trying to do is create a flow that moves tasks between buckets based on their Due Date. I have buckets label "Today", "Tomorrow", "This Week", and "Later".    My Flow is:

    - Recurrence trigger

    - List my plans

    - List my buckets

    - List my tasks

    - Apply to Every [Task]

    -- Condition @lessOrEquals(items('LoopThroughTasks')?['dueDateTime'], adddays(utcnow(), int(1)))

    -- if Yes, I want to change the bucket to "Today"

    -- if No,... go further down the rabbit hole with additional conditions...

    Update Task Details (V1) does not appear to support changing the bucket.  Update Task Details (V2) is completely incomprehensible.

    By "Update Task Details V1"... I mean "Update a task".  V2... is the "Update task details".

    Does anyone know how to use this action? (Update Task Details for Microsoft Planner)

    Explaining a reference with the word reference does indeed not help us. Can you please provide some concrete example of how/why/when/where one would use it.
    I think many of us would like to get to the Taks checklist via that venue, but that seems not possible, or is it?

    @Blouwagie2

    I was also confused with the description. After some testing, I realized "Reference Alias" seems to be the "Text to display" when you add a file link to a Planner task manually

    Regarding Task checklist, I havent found the way to read it/update it via flow Planner connector. Some if the missing functionalities in this connector are available via Planner REST API, you can read and vote the following idea if interested on such approach

    Hope this helps

    @efialttes

    I am trying to create a flow that adds a new planner task each time a form is submitted. I don't know what code to use for the References Resource so that it picks up the correct attachments. There is a dynamic content option that lets me add the question's answer from the form ("Please upload photos of the issue"). When I test it, it gives me this error:

    "Schema validation has failed. Validation for field 'References', on entity 'TaskDetails' has failed: The URI failed to parse. Invalid URI: The URI scheme is not valid."

    Its also not a required question, so will it mess up if there is no attachment?

    I have the same doub "create a flow that adds a new planner task each time a form is submitted".  Do you have the solution now?

    I was able to build this after some experimenting and checking the meaning of options - obtaining the form ID was tricky as it was not in my list of options
