Form + Excel Integration

Hi all!

I am currently building out a flow that when an employee submits a form with which days of the week they are unavailable for their shifts, the automation will remove their name from the specific Excel cell. I have also set up for messaging to go into our Teams chat, which is working great.

However, the automation is testing without problem, until the last condition where it updates the excel row. I cannot figure out why this will not work, and am looking for some help and tips!

    1. I built out a fixed shift scheduling sheet in an Excel spreadsheet, essentially this:
Day Social AM Chat AM Social PM Chat PM
    Monday John Kyle Sam John
    Tuesday Jack John Mike Sally
    Wednesday etc etc etc etc
    Thursday
    Friday

What my initial ask was that this schedule is fixed, it is always the same every week, but naturally people are on vacation, sick, etc. I created a Form in which an employee (for ex John) at the start of the week can input that he is unavailable this week on Monday.

I want the flow to get his response details, and then update the Monday row in the Excel sheet to remove his name. Then, I have a separate flow (which is running correctly) that based on the Day of the Week it is, posts a message in our Teams chat... which is this:

So for this example, if John said in the form that he was unavailable Monday, I want the daily Teams message to run against the Excel sheet and return:

    "Monday"s Shift Schedule:

    AM Shift:
    - Social: (blank)
    - Chat: Kyle

    PM Shift:
    - Social: Sam
    - Chat: (blank)

So if you removed it, are you able to remove the code you had to remove the name, thereby solving the problem you had?

And to clarify something else. Is this the Forms Excel as my original question or is there some funky set of Excels you use?

    Please explain that.

I appreciate your response!! I apologize as this is my first time posting on here, so unsure of all the norms and how much detail to go into posting. I have removed the checkbox for "Record Name" as you noted. Here is the entire flow run:

And here is what is showing when the flow runs:

Please.. please. provide full information when asking for help, it just adds to the chances on one will respond if you do not.

Without seeing anything to help on specifically: my guess is that the issue is, if you are referring to the Excel generated by the Forms process, the record you are looking for probably isn't showing up yet, as the cache usually only happens after a long while and or if someone Opens the file. Its a horrible process :-( that causes tons of issues just like this. There is no great solution other than opening the file manually or using power automate desktop to open it for you, which you could trigger from your Flow.

You can also turn OFF, storing the Users name
    1. go to your form
    2. Turn off Saving names
Now you don't have to worry about it

    As in the picture

That being said as the most probable reason its not updating is the above statement however if you still want to look into it or do not want to turn off saving names. please do the following:

Show us your flow inputs and outputs.
    What does not working mean.

Please show a flow run where it said it did whatever or it failed with an error and share the error.

Since I believe its the Top explanation (as is the answer 99.999%) of the time, feel free to share if you believe it is something else due to an error or other details you can share.

If this answers your question please mark as such and maybe a Like.

If you need to come up with a different answer please let me know.
