Scott Durow's Power Drag Drop no longer working

From Authoring Version 3.25053.6, an app which includes Scott Durow's Power Drag Drop v. 1.1.0 no longer works - screens are just blank (including those which don't include the code component).
I tried creating a new blank canvas app and inserting the pdd control. It imported ok, but when placed on a screen it just hung at 'Please wait..'. Tried in Edge and Opera - no difference. Tried taking the Authoring Version back to 3.25052.14 (furthest back allowed) but again no difference.
Has anyone else encountered problems with PDD recently? Scott Durow's github has been quiet for several months so I'm not sure whether the control (which is brilliant!) is being kept up to date.

@JonathanGibbs - Thanks for providing the details on what you found.

I had just watched a video by Scott on Accessibility that used this control.

Thank you for providing your steps for getting things to work.

    Thanks

@MarkRahn Yes, I saw that reference in Scott's GitHub. He's marked it 'for triage' but there's no further action as far as I can see,

I've got further with this now. I tried making a test app including the PDD control in a different sandbox environment, and found it worked fine.

After further investigation*, the key issue was that this different sandbox environment was unmanaged. The sandbox environment that was failing was managed but otherwise similar. I was able to edit apps that included PDD controls fine in the unmanaged environment, then publish and deploy to a managed Production environment, and the app played ok.

so the rule is, from Authoring Version 3.24111.12 onwards,

    - To edit an app with a pdd control in it you must be in an unmanaged environment
    - once published the app will play ok in a managed environment (you can't edit it, of course, but then you wouldn't want to)

*this included examining the msapp files of both apps using Visual Code and finding that pdd_CustomControl.PowerDragDropTemplate_dataField.id was different - though I think this turned out to be irrelevant compared with the managed-unmanaged issue

I found this Issue reported on Scott's GitHub:

The user found that things broke after Authoring Version 3.24111.12

I just checked and I am only able to go back to 3.25052.13.

Maybe reach out on Scott's GitHub and log an Issue.

It is a really cool control.
