Cannot add Secondary Y axis if I add legend in the Line Chart

I’ve added Total Sales to a Line Chart along with a Legend (Categories). Now, I want to display Total Profit on the Secondary Y-axis, but Power BI doesn’t allow it.

If I remove the Legend, I’m able to add the Total Profit measure without any issue.

Is this a product limitation, or is there a workaround to achieve this?

    This is a current limitation of the native Line chart — it has only one Y-axis. When you add a Legend, the visual splits the measure into series and a secondary Y-axis isn’t supported. Removing the legend just lets you add another series on the same axis.

    Workarounds:

    • Switch to a Line and clustered/stacked column (combo) chart, put Sales as columns (primary) and Profit as the line, then turn on Secondary y-axis.
    • Use a custom visual that supports dual Y (e.g., xViz Multi-Axes, Deneb/Vega-Lite), if allowed.
    • Or rescale/normalize one measure to the other’s range so both fit on a single axis.

    I've tried with overlapping visual, works better. it is a suggestable work around without switching to any other visuals.
