Modern, refreshed look for model-driven apps - Form Header Fields and Menu

Hello,

we tested today the Modern, refreshed look for model-driven apps and we like the general direction.
General design and the list views are a good improvement.

We see a challenge with the current refreshed look of forms:
In ootb and custom forms we often add very important fields also to the header, which helps our users a lot.
With the new design it seems like header fields and the menus, which are often ootb, e.g. in project operations, already quite extensive, have to compete for the same limited space.
It would be great, if this aspect could be redesigned or reconsidered.

And does anyone has an idea on how to get any feedback properly to Microsoft? ;)

Thank you.
I have the same question (0)

You're absolutely right to raise this concern, and it's great to hear your team is exploring the modern, refreshed look for model-driven apps. The issue with header fields competing for space with command bars and menus—especially in apps like Project Operations—is a known challenge with the new Fluent design system.

✅ What You Can Do Now

    1. Submit Feedback to Microsoft

Microsoft is actively collecting feedback during the rollout of the modern UI. You can share your thoughts through:

    • Official Survey: Mentioned in Microsoft’s blog post on the refreshed look.
    • Power Platform Ideas Portal: https://ideas.powerapps.com — Search for similar feedback or create a new idea.
    • Microsoft Learn Community: Engage in discussions or raise concerns here .

    🛠️ Workaround Suggestions

While waiting for design improvements, here are a few things you can try:

    • Minimize header field usage: Move critical fields to the top of the main form body instead of the header.
    • Use tooltips or hover cards: For fields that don’t need constant visibility.
    • Customize header colors: To visually separate header fields from command bars using modern theme overrides.
