🧠 What Happens When You “Delete” an Email?
Before you automate, understand the difference:
🔹 Soft Delete
- 📥 Action: Moves the email to the Deleted Items folder
- 📦 Location: Still inside the Primary Mailbox
- 🔁 Can it be recovered? → ✅ Yes — user can restore it from Deleted Items
🔹 Hard Delete
- 💥 Action: Permanently deletes the email (bypasses Deleted Items)
- ❌ Location: It’s gone — not in any visible folder
- ⚠️ Can it be recovered? → ❌ No, unless your organization has retention hold or litigation hold enabled (requires admin/eDiscovery access)
