I notice that some tools give me this error message: The system reported that access to the Dataverse API is restricted for this application

I can confirm that I have full access to my Dataverse.

Is the error a licencing issue or setting issue?

This error is typically related to application permission settings. Apart from your confirmation on full access to Dataverse, could you please check and try the following areas?

Please check and verify app registration in Azure AD and confirm it has the required API permissions for Dataverse.

Can we ensure admin consent has been granted for those permissions?

Please check Power Platform environment and tenant policies for app access restrictions.A

A review is needed in DLP policies that might block Dataverse API usage.

Lastly, please do a re-authenticate or reconnect the Dataverse connection in Copilot Studio.

This is a configuration/policy issue (not licensing). please check:

Allow the Copilot Studio MCP client in the target environment (enable the Dataverse MCP server), then re-add the Dataverse MCP Server tool and retest:https://learn.microsoft.com/power-apps/maker/data-platform/data-platform-mcp-copilot-studio

Check DLP policies don’t block Microsoft Dataverse or Copilot Studio authoring abilities:https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-copilot-studio/admin-data-loss-prevention

Ensure my user has a suitable Dataverse role (Environment Maker/System Administrator or equivalent):https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-copilot-studio/guidance/sec-gov-phase3#assign-copilot-studio-authoring-permissions-by-using-security-roles

If it still fails after these, please try again later (possible transient service issue).

Example scenario 2: code interpreter prompt to create a visual summary of Dataverse tables

The error message below refers to a specific App ID not found in my system.

Error retrieving data from Dataverse. Detail: Access to Dataverse API is restricted for this application Id : 'ef32e2a3-262a-44e5-a270-4dfb7b6d0bb2'. Please contact your administrator for more information.
