Using a SharePoint Hub and Associated Sites as Knowledge Source for Copilot Agent

Hi,
I've read that Copliot agents can use a SharePoint Hub as a knowledge source and that the associated sites will be included in the source. I have seen this works in a SharePoint agent created in the SharePoint UI but doesn't seem to work when I supply the hub site url to a knowledge source for a Copilot Agent in Copilot Studio. Has anyone managed to make this work in a Copilot Studio agent?

Yes, I have also read this on the support page but haven't seen it in action yet. Maybe they are still rolling it out?

Ready-made agents automatically include both the current site and any associated hub sites as knowledge sources.

Starting September 2025, when you choose a hub site as a knowledge source for a custom agent, the associated sites of the hub site are automatically included. For custom agents created before September 2025, edit the agent to remove the hub site and reselect it. Saving this update will include the associated sites of the hub site to the agent.

    Happy to help out 😁

Currently, Copilot Studio does not automatically include associated sites when you add a SharePoint Hub site as a knowledge source. This feature works in the SharePoint Copilot agent created via the SharePoint UI, but in Copilot Studio, only the specific hub site you provide is indexed—associated sites are not automatically included.

    Workarounds:
    • Manually add each associated site’s URL as a separate knowledge source in Copilot Studio.
    • Monitor the Copilot Studio roadmap for future support of hub site associations.

    Hi,

I also have the same challenge.

We want to make an AI bot based on all of our knowledge stored in a Sharepoint Hub site.
We can add a sharepoint site but this includes all documents.
We only want the AI agent to search for knowledgde related to the Hub site.

I understand that this is currently not possible and we have to wait for Microsoft to add this a knowledgde option?

    Regards,
    Arjen
