Exporting detailed conversation telemetry to Power BI

Hi everyone,

I’m using Copilot Studio to manage a conversational bot that is live on a gaming site. The built-in analytics dashboard is useful for high-level metrics, but I need more granular reporting to understand how users interact with specific conversation paths.

Scenario:

  •

Bot deployed on a custom domain (gaming-related).

  •

Current analytics only provide aggregated session and completion data.

  •

Requirement: Export detailed conversation logs (e.g., intents triggered, fallback events, user abandonment at specific steps).

  •

Questions:

  1.

Is there a recommended way to stream Copilot Studio telemetry into Power BI for real-time reporting?

  2.

Can the data be pushed into Azure Application Insights to create custom dashboards?

  3.

Are there any existing connectors, APIs, or best practices for combining Copilot Studio analytics with other Microsoft data tools?

  4.

I’m trying to identify the conversation bottlenecks where users are dropping off, and I’d like to visualize this data more flexibly in Power BI.

Any guidance or documentation would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Exporting detailed conversation telemetry to Power BI
    Hello,

Nice idea and very impressive use case, it's very rare, i m sure you'r local microsoft headquarter will be fan of this use case :)

Anyway what i can contribute to help :

    - Power BI + real time = no : update frequency depend on cost and it cost a lot, very lot to have very often update. no sure it's usefull, only 2 or 3 time a day could be great
    - All data concerning the agent are in Dataverse, wich could be drill down like a sql server, so everything is possible but no documented.

What could be a temporary solution could be to track conversation : you have trigger in copilot studio topic about "before a message is send" and "after" so you could track everything BUT : very big BUT : be carefull of RGPD / GDPR about user insigh, it's more than borderline to track data, i strongly recommand to anonymize conversation (but you probably already did it :) i just say it in case:) )

For my use , when i m working on small pilot with small team i m tracking with the trigger at the begining to improve the conversation and then i come back to standard datas.

    Hope this could help :)

In addition to @Romain The Low-Code Bearded Bear 's response, the answer to your question 2 is yes: you can leverage Azure Applications Insights for extracting some advanced analytics and perhaps creating custom dashboards.

    The official docs are here:

If you need further support with this approach, I can provide you with a more detailed step-by-step on how to set it up with some images in the next few days.

PS: indeed, that's an amazing use case :)
