Will Copilot agent be able to use the Opus model? I am having a hard time making a new agent from scratch in copilot studio and its easier with the agent maker in copilot but it does not have the ai model that i want. can anyone help me out with this please. i am new to this and i find it very interesting to learn,

Yes, but you need the full Microsoft Copilot Studio standalone portal. Create a new agent here https://copilotstudio.microsoft.com/.

There you can choose between the models.

Opus is an external model (Anthropic is a Microsoft subprocessor), so you have to enable Anthropic in the Microsot 365 Admin Center.

Copilot -> Settings -> AI providers operating as ‎Microsoft‎ subprocessors

Yes, it is possible, provided your tenant and administrator have enabled it.

In my environment, I can select Claude Opus models directly when creating a Copilot agent. As you can see in the screenshot below, Claude Opus 4.6 and Claude Opus 4.7 are available alongside GPT-5 models.

If you don't see these models, it's usually due to one of the following:

Your tenant or admin hasn't enabled them.

Your region doesn't support them yet.

Your licensing or environment doesn't include access to these models.

It may be worth checking with your Microsoft 365/Power Platform administrator to see which foundation models are enabled for your environment.

Yes, Claude Opus can be used with Copilot Studio, but its availability depends on your tenant configuration, licensing, region, and whether Microsoft has enabled Anthropic models for your environment. The Agent Maker experience is designed for simplicity and does not expose all the advanced model selection capabilities available in the full Copilot Studio experience.

Thank you for your insightful answers.

the opus model works for me in copilot studio. but it's not available in the copilot chat agent.

I want to make an agent with all the features that the copilot chat does but with the opus ai model.

is it possible? or will opus model will ever roll out to be used in the copilot agent maker?

because i want to make an agent which can read the document which i upload in chat and update the document and give me back the updated document without adjusting the format and such.

I checked from my side, and Opus is available in Microsoft Copilot Chat under the model selector (see the attached screenshot).

However, availability may vary depending on your tenant, license, region, and Microsoft's rollout schedule.

Can Copilot agent made using copilot studio generate excel files or update them and provide them back to use the same way microsoft copilot does? like the way it gives the link in chat itself

Yes, but with some differences from Microsoft 365 Copilot.

A Copilot agent built with Copilot Studio can generate new Excel files, update existing Excel files, and save them to OneDrive or SharePoint using Power Automate or other connected actions.

It can also return a clickable link to that file directly in the chat, allowing users to open the generated Excel workbook.

However, unlike Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio does not typically return the Excel file as a native downloadable attachment or artifact directly inside the chat.

Instead, the recommended approach is:

Generate or update the Excel file.

Save it to OneDrive or SharePoint.

Return the file's sharing link back to the user in the conversation.
