Is COE Toolkit worth investing?

We recently started using  CoE Tool Kit and it's been great for visibility across our Power Platform environment, but the last GitHub release was February 2026 and nothing since. For a toolkit that used to drop monthly, that silence feels odd.

With PPAC getting stronger every release — inventory views, capacity reporting, usage dashboards — a lot of what the CoE Toolkit does is starting to feel like it's being absorbed into the platform natively.

For those running it in production, are you still actively using COE  i?or

Would love to know where people are landing on this

Thanks

    Hey @Vish WR

My take on this would be that whilst the new inventory in PPAC is welcome, its not as comprehensive as the COEStarterKit data. I personally think the CoEStarterKit still adds meaningful value around governance workflows and the maker nurture side of things.

Totally agree that it would be nice to see an updated roadmap for the COEStarterKit.

    Thanks!

Yes, with the Inventory API, I foresee the future of the COE toolkit's end of life soon

    Really great article @Vish WR

The Agentic Centre of Enablement will be very interesting to see.

I think for me though, if I've built customisations and extended the COEStarterKit then there is still tremendous value in keeping that operational. Also, even just in the base CoEStarterKit, its more than just inventory. There is a Env Req App, a DLP app, etc

Back to your orignal question - Yes, for the time being atleast (or until there is concrete news on the COEStarterKit), then the COEStarterKit is still worth investing in.

True, but the problem is that there is an issue or a security issue in the core component, and there is no support from the COE team, which is a risk

When I check the issue backlog, the issues were never assigned to anyone till feb it was always assigned to someone within1-2 days

There is now been an update that the COEStarterKit is no longer being actively maintained -

For those who may not be aware, and that it applies to, the features mentioned in the transition to Power Platform admin center update is only for the Worldwide/Commercial cloud tenants. Anyone else with a tenant in different Microsoft Cloud, like I do in Microsoft's Sovereign Cloud (GCCH, DOD, etc.), are completely out of luck due to the significant feature parity gap between cloud environments.

Everything it says the CoE kit features/functionality transitions to, for the "big" parts, does not exist in GCCH and currently not on the roadmap: Actions, Inventory, Monitor & Usage.

So for those in my situation, we now have to rely on a solution that is no longer supported and maintained until who knows. SMH

While this post has been answered, I would not invest too much effort into setting up the CoE. According to Microsoft, it is no longer being maintained or invested in. They are moving their efforts to providing features in the Admin Center. We are in the process of decommissioning our CoE. You can read more about this at Microsoft Power Platform Center of Excellence (CoE) Starter Kit transition to Power Platform admin center - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn (see the note in the purple box at the top of the page).
