Update Existing Virtual Table Datasource with New connection.

Hi Team,

Context:
In my solution, I have several virtual tables created using the Virtual Data Connector Provider. The original connection reference for the provider was created by a user account that is now disabled.

To resolve this, we updated the connection reference with a new, active connection. However, the existing virtual tables are still not retrieving data from SQL, even though the new connection appears to be valid.

What We've Tried:

  • Verified that the new connection is active and has appropriate permissions.
  • Confirmed that the connection reference was successfully updated in the environment.
  • Checked the virtual table metadata (External Name, External Collection Name) — no changes were made.
  • Attempted to refresh the metadata and re-publish the solution.

Question:

How can we update the existing virtual tables to use the new connection reference so that data starts flowing again from SQL?
Is there a supported way to rebind the virtual tables to the updated connection, or do we need to recreate them entirely?

Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

How long did you wait after adding the new connection to the connection reference?  In my experience connections are cached and it takes several hours, usually overnight, before the new connection is used.  Also after updating the connection reference did you publish all changes before re-importing the solution?
