Flow not triggering from PowerApps for Managed Solution

Hi All - We are encountering this issue where for a Power Platform environment the application within a managed solution throws an error when a flow is triggered from PowerApps.

Error: user with id xxxxxx does not have ReadAccess right(s) for record with id xxxxx of entity Process

The issue does not exist for unmanaged solution. On researching we found out two solutions and both of them work. But we are not sure which is the ideal solution.

Solution 1: We have to manually share the flows which are triggered from application with the releavant users of the application. This is done from the run only users settings for that flow and sharing it with individual users.

Solution 2: We need to create a copy of the Basic User Role (since updating basic user role is prohibited) and in Process Table we need update the Read level from user to either Business Unit or Organization as shown below:

Which of this is the right solution. OR is there anything we are missing on why in managed solution flows cannot be triggered with PowerApps.
I have the same question (0)

Hi @JD-26060753-, I faced this issue with my earlier projects, basically this error is with flows connected to environment variables or you are using these variables in your app.
And environment variables are stored in data verse table and for the end user to access these tables we have to assign the security role to the user.

For my case, I assigned all the end users with "App Opener" role along side with other roles if required.
    That solved the problem.

And how to assign a end user this role, when sharing this app with them from share panel (make sure to use classic sharing panel) then you will see the data sources and one of them is data verse with a dropdown as assign security roles (just select app opener with other roles if required).

    Hi there,

For sure, you need users to get Process privilege to run flows. Same for tables used. You don't share a flow to users, you share a flow to owner/service account to make sure the flow has proper connection references :).

Solution 2 is the good one. You need to copy/create a security role which fit your needs. Take note that you can simply create a new role containing Process privilege too (as an example). Then, you give Basic User role to everyone, and you add your new role to users running flows (if you don't want to apply this privilege to everyone).

    I hope it helps!
