Hey people, I need to build an App, which needs to be integrated into Power BI. The app should basically be a Checkbox, which can be used to approve something. By ticking the box
it should send an Email automatically to a few persons. at least one contact mail should be dynamic and be drawn out of the PowerBI File or Excel file. The other ones could be static.
How can I do that? I tried it like this: I build a screen with just the checkbox as 'On select' and gave it a code to send an email by ticking the box. As for recipient, subject and content of the mail, i build another screen where
i put 3 textboxes, where the mail and subject and content can be written manually. But I want to give him pre written content and the recipient is dependent on each PowerBI report.

you must create the PowerApp from within Power BI. (Doing it any other way will not work)

- add a PowerApp Visual to your Power BI report. Assign the fields to that visual which you need for later processing (including item identifiers etc)

- edit the visual and create the app

- save and assign. Don't just save!

Then in your PowerApp do the necessary patching. Note that this is asynchronous. So find a way for your users to be notified about a successful or failed patch. The results will NOT immediately reflect in Power BI unless you are willing to pay for premium PowerApps licenses for all users, and you have a Direct Query capable data source for the patching.

Doesn't sound pretty? Because it isn't. We're in 2025 and data write back is still an afterthought.
