Adding Sharepoint site to a Solution

(2) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 116
I've created a Solution and want to add a Sharepoint list as an Environment variable.  I specify the connector as Sharepoint and enter my details.
Why is the list of sites not showing all the sites to which I have access?
Also the dialogue box is not wide enough to see the whole URL of the site (See below).  How can I choose which site to use?
When I try choosing different sites they all give the same Sharepoint lists, so I think it's duplicating.

    Hi,

Yeah, this is something I’ve run into as well. The site picker there doesn’t actually show all the SharePoint sites you have access to. It mostly pulls from recent or cached sites, so even if you have permission, it won’t always appear in that list.

The other issue you’re seeing—where all sites seem to show the same lists—is also related. The dialog doesn’t refresh properly when you switch sites, so it ends up showing lists from a previously selected site. It looks like duplication, but it’s really just the UI not updating.

And yes, that small dialog box is another pain. There’s no way to expand it, so you can’t clearly see long URLs.

What usually works for me is not relying on the dropdown at all. I just paste the full SharePoint site URL directly into the field and let it resolve. Once you do that, the correct lists should load.

If you’re still having trouble, another approach is to connect to the SharePoint site first from a canvas app or flow (where the picker behaves better), and then reuse that connection inside your solution.

Overall, it’s more of a limitation in how the SharePoint connector behaves within solutions rather than anything wrong on your side.

When you open the dropdown, it usually shows the Site Name first and then the Site URL, so you can use the Site Name part to identify the correct site.

If you’re still not able to find your site in the list, you can manually paste the full SharePoint site URL, that’s is easiest and most reliable way.

Sometimes the dropdown doesn’t show all sites or may look duplicated due to caching, so entering the URL directly helps avoid that.

Some real pains I see that we need to endure!

    1. We can build a custom site picker - as it brings up moste recently used one (respecting permission)
    2. Dialogue box is not wide enough to see the whole URL- real pain when simlira site name comes in with variations at the last!  If three dots (...) at the end doesn't give any clue about the name of the resto of URL - we can only manually enter the site name. Again - we don't see there are easy something!

I want a Sharepoint list not a site.  When I choose list I can't paste the site into the combo box.
