Unable to receive a response from Connected Agents in Copilot Studio (SPFx Integration)

I have a Master (Orchestrator) Agent in Copilot Studio with two Standalone Connected Agents (HR and Finance). These are configured as Connected Agents, not Child Agents.

All three agents are configured with the same Microsoft Entra ID app registration for SSO, including the same Client ID, Client Secret, Tenant ID, and Token Exchange URL under Security → Authentication → Authenticate manually.

I'm integrating the Master Agent into an SPFx application using Bot Framework Web Chat.

The initial sign-in prompt works, and I receive the following response:

"Hello! To be able to help you, I'll need you to sign in."

However, after completing the sign-in process, I don't receive any further responses from either the Master Agent or the Connected Agents. Instead, the conversation stops (or returns a SystemError), and no response is displayed.

How can i fix this?

This behavior is usually related to the authentication setup rather than the Connected Agent configuration itself.

Verify the SSO implementation in the SPFx/Web Chat client: After sign-in, the acquired Entra ID token must be correctly passed back to Copilot Studio/Direct Line. If token exchange isn't completed successfully, the user may authenticate but the conversation can stop with a SystemError or no response.

Review the app registration configuration: Microsoft guidance typically expects specific redirect URIs, delegated permissions (openid, profile, User.Read), client secrets, and token exchange settings to be configured correctly. A mismatch can cause post-authentication failures.

Test the Master Agent without the Connected Agents: If the Master Agent works after sign-in but fails when invoking HR or Finance, the issue may be related to authentication propagation between the orchestrator and connected agents.

Check Copilot Studio analytics, conversation transcripts, browser console logs, and network traces immediately after sign-in. The actual error returned during token exchange or agent invocation is often visible there even when the chat only shows "SystemError."

Confirm that all agents are in the same tenant and that authentication works independently for each agent. Microsoft troubleshooting guidance recommends validating authentication on each agent before testing multi-agent scenarios.

As a troubleshooting step, can you confirm whether:

The Master Agent responds correctly in Copilot Studio after sign-in?

The issue only occurs in the SPFx-hosted Web Chat?

Any specific error appears in the browser network trace or Copilot Studio conversation diagnostics

That information would help determine whether this is a Web Chat SSO/token-exchange issue or a Connected Agent authentication handoff issue.
