How to setup invitation code for first time Power Page user (group)

I am not sure what's the problem behind. I am trying to setup a group invitation for Power Page users.

In the Power Page Management portal app > Invitations > +New > create a Group (type) invitation.

Then I copy the invitation code to a new inprivate browser. Click "Redeem invitation" , paste the code, press "Register" button. It will redirect me to the register form. In the form I type in Email, Username, Password, Confirm password. It always return "Invalid invitation code."

I know it is an invalid error message because if I type in a wrong code, it will not redirect me to the register form.

How can I see the actual error?

Also, I have tried setup an "Invitee" in the invitation but it is still the same.

Thanks for your advice.

Since the invitation code successfully redirects you to the registration page, the invitation itself is likely valid.

The issue is probably occurring during the registration process rather than during invitation validation.

Start by verifying your authentication and registration site settings, web role configuration, and whether the email address already exists.

Then review the portal diagnostics or browser network trace to capture the underlying error, as the default message doesn't always reflect the actual problem.

@11manish after some tests, I found if I pre-create the contacts and assign to the "Invitees" of the invitation, I can get successfully register and login.

Is it possible to signup without pre-create the contacts?

With a standard Group Invitation, pre-creating Contact records should not be necessary. When Open Registration and Invitation Registration are enabled, Power Pages should automatically create the Contact during the registration process and assign the appropriate Web Roles from the invitation. If this only works after manually creating the Contact, review your authentication site settings and customizations, as something is preventing the standard registration flow from creating new contacts.

Thank you for your feedback. I have tested for weeks and searching for resource online regarding the invitation. I cannot find a proper tutorial to guide me how to setup a standard group invitation.

I am using "Local sign in" as identity provider. Everything is standard.

Also, according to this old discussion thread (https://community.dynamics.com/forums/thread/details/?threadid=d5cd9f36-0c3b-4d4c-a264-7130e0685956) , Nicholas mentioned "it is meant for allowing you to associate additional web roles to users that have already registered and are associated with a contact".

@SP2019admin Ignore what Nicholas said in the other thread - it is not what it is meant for. A by-product of invitations is that they assign the specified Web Roles on the Invitation when the user redeems the Invitation, so can be used to add custom Web Roles to contacts (the standard Authenticated & Anonymous do not need to be assigned as they are inherited)

You need to specify the Contact records in the Invitation.

If you want to have anonymous people register, then you will need to set your authentication to Open Registration (which you may not want to do as anyone can then register).
