Form not working after Added Columns

I have built an app, it works as I want it to. Amongst other screens there is one to create new items in a list, and another to update the items.

I have decided I need another column in my SharePoint list so I have added it. A simple text field.

I added the new field to my Form but when I SubmitForm the field is not saved. It seems to only save if I create it from SharePoint itself.
The same seems to happen with my screen that updates the ThisItem from a gallery. Since I added the column I now get a “Network error whilst using Patch function, the requested operation is invalid”
I have tried deleting the SharePoint column and returning the form back to its working state but it no longer works.

I don’t want to have to rebuild the form however doing so worked previously.

I got it working, was nothing to do with the new column.

i have a people column in the form and it was that causing the issue. If I changed the person, it worked fine, if I didn’t then it errored. I must have been using that field throughout all my testing until I added this extra column then switch to that.

The fix was that the DefaultSelectedItem was set to [Parent.Default] but when I changed it to Parent.Default it would allow changes and the original person to remain when submitting.

Not sure why the [ ] would cause this not to patch?

Did you refresh the List from the list of Datasources in your app? Any change to a datasource requires that you refresh it so the app knows something has changed.

Hmm ok @AndrewManning, let us know how you get on after adding the form back.

For future reference, if I make a change to a sharepoint list, the first thing I do inside the power app is refresh the data source. That way it picks up any changes made in the schema.

I re-created the column which worked for the new item. Patch still fails with error 400.

I removed and reloaded the data source but no difference.

Will try to re-add my form for the editing items screen

If that’s the case, I’d be tempted to try removing and re-adding the data source.

Go to Data, click the 3 dots next to your list and click remove
Save, close and reopen the app
Re-add the sharepoint list as a datasource

This should force Power apps to re-read the schema and pull through all the correct columns for you.

    Thanks
    Adam

I didn’t refresh the data source but I had closed the app and reloaded several times. Just done both again, and removed the DataCard but no joy.

I can see in the live monitor the row being created, and all other information gets there except any new columns

After adding the column in sharepoint, have you refreshed the data source in your power app?

On the left hand side, select data, select your Sharepoint list and click refresh.

Other suggestion would be to remove the data card and re-add - Remove the data card, save/close/reopen the app, then re add the field.

    Thanks,
    Adam
