I'm Isaac. I live just outside Las Vegas. I've got 14 years in various technical roles in financial technology <
https://robododo.org/contact-Isaac-Gitchel/>. Well, I was laid off earlier this year - just one more victim of organizational restructuring. I spent more months than I care to admit, paying LinkedIn for the privilege of throwing resumes into the void, and doom-scrolling their engagement bait, until I finally came a conclusion: While I do believe our approach to employment
is generally broken, it is
also true that I didn't network, and my training and certs are simply
not competitive. And
that is something I can control.
Then out of the blue, I got offered an invite to Power Platform Community Conference 2024 in Las Vegas via a LinkedIn message! Apparently this was because I lived in town, and LinkedIn associates me with the relevant industry, plus Microsoft was just being cool. I found out about Power Platform and Power Up at the conference, and ... well, here I am! It's been a strange ride!
I'm doubly excited to be here, both from the joy of new, powerful tools ("the carrot"), and also the economic realities of unemployment ("the stick"). So I plan to absorb this material fast. I want to use it as a springboard to certifications PL-900, PL-200 and/or PL-400. Meanwhile, I'll be applying the material by improving the infrastructure for my (dream-on-the-side) game studio at robododo.org. (Whether that ends up being my final project for this program is TBD.) It's a business case I understand very well, it benefits my studio, and it'll look great on a Y Combinator application! I am especially interested in integrating Power Automate with image generation, Blender, World Anvil, and Unreal Engine - to facilitate all aspects of AI-enhanced game development. I intend to have a fully modernized game studio with a game in alpha no later than EOY 2025 - and I'll need a job to support me while I do that!
Pleased to be here!
