Copilot Studio | Dataverse Multiline Text Feature – GA Timeline Clarification

Hi Community,

I am currently exploring Dataverse as a knowledge source in Microsoft Copilot Studio and came across the multiline text support feature, which is currently in preview.
As per the official documentation:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/knowledge-add-dataverse#enable-search-support-for-multiline-text-and-file-data-types-in-dataverse-tables-preview
Above documentation mentions that multiline text support is still in preview.

Additionally, I found a related Microsoft blog post discussing Dataverse as a knowledge source:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/blog/2025/08/11/agent-with-dataverse-knowledge/
However, it does not mention any timeline for General Availability (GA).

I also checked the release plans and roadmap but could not find any clear reference to when this feature is expected to move to GA.
Could you please help clarify:
  • Is there any expected timeline for this feature to reach GA?
  • Are there any known limitations or considerations for using this feature in production during the preview phase?
Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi

Since those blog posts and docs are a bit older now, the feature status might have changed.

    Here's what I'd do:

Check the Release Plan — Head over to the Power Platform Release Plan and filter for "Deployed" or "Available" features. If multiline text support has moved to GA, it should be listed there with a release date.

Check the docs again — That Microsoft Learn link you found still says "preview" in the URL, but the docs get updated regularly. The actual content might say it's GA now. Worth a fresh look.

Open a support ticket — Contact Microsoft Support directly. They'll give you the definitive answer on whether it's production-ready yet and any limitations you should know about. The support team can also escalate to the Product Group (PG) if needed to get you a more definitive or constructive answer on timelines.

Talk to your CSAM if you have one — A CSAM is a "Customer Success Account Manager" (basically your dedicated Microsoft contact if you're an enterprise customer). They'll have insider info on timelines and can coordinate with the Product Group to get you early access or workarounds.

Since you're looking to use this in production, getting clarity from Microsoft directly is your safest bet rather than going off older documentation.

Let me know what you find out!
