Circular Dependencies in Power Platform Solutions

Hi everyone,

I work on Power Platform and have multiple solutions under one environment.

We deploy solutions from DEV to PROD usually without any problems.

This time we got into a loop of dependency problem.

Can't publish/delete SolA because DataflowX has two layers: One created by PublisherA and other by PublisherB.

Can't publish/delete SolB because DataflowY has two layers: One created by PublisherB and other by PublisherA. (so the other way around).

Unfortunately both Dataflows are now deleted (by mistake) from DEV environment (can we restore them?)

We are in the circle of errors with no clear way out. Can anyone advice?

Best regards,

Kornel

I worked with MSFT on that and unfortunately they cannot restore dataflows.

What is more if you restore your environment - the dataflows won't be there.

We managed to resolve the problem by:

    1. Creating the dataflow in DEV with the same name as it is in prod.
    2. Creating dummy solution in DEV with the publisher which is on lower layer in one of the flows.
    3. Exporting the solution.
    4. Then in customizations file we changed the GUI of newly created flow to the GUI of original flow from PROD.
    5. Imported the dummy solution to PROD, the next layer with publisher was created.
    6. Now we could Upgrade the solutions one by one to clean the PROD environment.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi @Kornel,
I would agree with @stampcoin on this and just rebuild the dataflows.
Usually i would try to avoid importing dataflows all together as it doesn't fit neatly in CI/CD pipelines as it's almost always the case that unmanaged active layers are needed to ensure that the dataflows are functional.

    Kind regards,

    @Kornel Hi,
Have you tried to restore the DEV ?
Consider manual rebuild the data flow, sometimes it is faster than figure out how to jump out the loop.
