I have a text box that feeds into a powerbi report. the PBI report has a fixed size text box so I want to restrict the about of text someone can type into powerapps.

how can I create some logic so that this text box displays an error if someone types in too much text?

e.g.
this is ok

but this is not (scroll bar has appeared)

character count wont work for this. so I need a different solution.

Use MaxLength to restrict input

Use Len() validation to show errors and control submission

Len() and max length dont work for this problem.

If the user has used carriage return to create new lines the character count will be low, but the text will still exceed the size of the box

I found a solution.

I created a hidden textbox behind the input with autoheight.

textbox.text = textinput.text

If textbox.height > textinput.height (i.e. the scroll bar has appeared), make the border red.
