Canvas PowerApp Disappeared/Deleted when re-creating DataVerse Table

Hi,

I needed to re-create a DataVerse Table.  I removed all dependencies and then deleted the table.
The table was then re-created in the canvas app.
When I saved the app and tried to refresh, I was no longer able to access the canvas app.
The canvas app was 'deleted' from the environment.

I have no idea why I am not able to access the app.
I checked the inventory of the environment and could not find any details there as well.

Any ideas on how the app can be restored or even what could have caused the app to 'disappear'.

Kind regards

Based on the information provided, I would not treat this as a normal consequence of deleting a Dataverse table.

    The most likely possibilities are:

    • The Canvas App was actually deleted, possibly during the changes/save process.
    • The app still exists but is not visible in the location/environment being checked.
    • The app has a broken dependency/reference to the newly recreated Dataverse table.
    • A solution/component change has caused the app to no longer appear as expected.
The first action I would take

Have your Power Platform Administrator run:

    Get-AdminDeletedPowerAppsList -EnvironmentName <EnvironmentID>

That should be the first concrete check because Microsoft provides this specifically for identifying deleted apps.

    For the future

For a Dataverse table that is already being used by a Canvas App, I strongly recommend modifying the existing table rather than deleting and recreating it. If the objective is to redesign the schema, use solutions and ALM to make controlled schema changes.

    If found, restore it with:
    Restore-DeletedPowerApp -AppName <AppID> -EnvironmentName <EnvironmentID>

If it's not in the deleted list, try checking app version history before concluding it's gone. In Power Apps Studio (if you can still open the editor directly via URL), go to File > Version history. Sometimes an app appears missing from the main list but is accessible through a direct link with its App ID.

You can find the App ID from your browser history if you've accessed the app recently, or from the Power Apps audit log in PPAC > Environments > your environment > Audit log.
For the root cause: saving an app while a referenced Dataverse table was in a deleted/recreating state can cause the app to enter a broken state where it's removed from the maker portal view but may still exist. The PowerShell check will confirm which situation you're in.

We had to install the powershell module first before the app could be restored.
Once restored, the app did not appear in the app list in the PowerApps studio immediately.
    It took a while.

Thanks for the advice around DataVerse tables.

    Kind regards
