Cannot Change Custom Variable from Topic to Global Scope

I'm trying to create a Custom Global Variable in the Topic section of my Copilot Agent and when I convert it from Topic to Global scope it vanishes from the Variables pane, I see an error message: InvalidPropertyPath, and the Variable Data Type is unset.
When I manually reset the data type to "String" the error goes away and I see the variable in the Variables pane again, but it's still set to Topic scope.
I can't reference the variable in in my Tools configuration until it's set to global, so I'd love to find some sort of solution/workaround.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior?  Is it a known bug?

Thanks!

    Hi,

I think Topic Input variables by nature are Topic scope only.
You can create a new global variable in your topic and set the value to the input variable. I think that's what @Michael E. Gernaey suggested as well.

Thanks for the answer, Michael - I've added a couple of pictures to help explain the experience.
When creating the variable in the "Input" section, under "Details", I don't see a way to specify that it should be a global variable.
Once it's created, if I look in the "Variables" pane, I see it set to topic scope. If I try and change it there, by clicking on the variable and clicking on global scope, it kicks off the behavior I described in my original post.

I agree, it seems reasonable to be able to create a variable with global scope from the start.  Hopefully, I'm missing something.

    Cheers,
    Tim

    Where the variable is created:
Where the scope is change to global (which wipes it out):

Its helps a lot to show pictures, especially when you are saying 'in my ui that you cannot see I can see this'.

Also how are you "converting" it to a Global? I do not do this, I create a global and set its value to a local. And why did you have it as local to begin with, can it not simply be made global initially?

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!
