How to speed up a Document Processing model (opening and retraining)

I have a model with a lot of collections and samples in it.  Opening it to edit it takes 15 minutes or more.  I was thinking about putting the model in a solution, then exporting it, then importing it (as a new model so it doesn't overwrite my old one) so I can test if this restored model will open faster?  My understanding is that it won't have all the PDF samples in it so it should open faster?  Has anyone tested this or have any input on this idea?

Thanks,

You are absolutely right, the documents and training materials will NOT go with it, and is why some people get confused (fortunately you are not). Some people DO want the training stuff there, but that would require building a new model version

So you are doing the right thing by what you are suggesting in another environment where it will be faster to load.

    Thank you!

How to speed up a Document Processing model (opening and retraining)
Thanks @Michael E. Gernaey -- quick question, if I export this (and drop all the samples) and I need to either modify or add a tag to a specific collection that had 20 samples trained originally, can I simply reupload 5 or so old samples (ones I had archived before exporting the solution) or 5 new ones?  Or is there a good number I need to upload again (or all of them)?

I have started this process but am running into some issues.  I wanted to export the original solution with the AI Builder model, then re-import it back as a copy so I could retain the original version without messing with it.  Apparently there is no way to do this.  I have tried importing it into another environment, changing the AI Builder model name, then re-importing in the original (still had PDFs).  CoPilot suggested opening the imported version in the other environment and retraining it -- this doesn't work since the "Edit model" button is greyed out.

I have tried clicking the "Unpublish" button on the model in the new environment, then "Publish" and export / import into the original environment -- no go here either.

I even tried creating an export package from my source, then deleting the original AI Builder model, then importing back -- says it has come from another environment and the edit model button is greyed out.

I really don't want to mess with my main original model until I can test this out.

I think the only option I have is to completely retrain a "lite" version of the model with the minimum number of samples and only tag the used values (we currently are tagging 50+ different values but only using 5-10).
