Agent References Deleted SharePoint File

(1) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 2
My agent will reference deleted SharePoint files, providing a link to the file(s) which redirects users to a new tab, with a message on the page that displays '404 HTTP error'. This has been an ongoing issue for 2 weeks now. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Fixes I've tried
  • Re-index SharePoint library
  • Remove and re-add knowledge source
  • Re-deploy agent
  • Empty SharePoint recycling bin

Have you checked/tried also the following?

    1. Has the file been removed from both the first-stage and second-stage SharePoint Recycle Bin?

    2. Have you allowed 24–48 hours for SharePoint search indexing and Copilot Studio synchronization to fully propagate the deletion?

    3. Have you tried removing the SharePoint knowledge source, saving and republishing the agent, then adding the knowledge source back and republishing again?

What you have tried need justification on the basis of the followings:
    • It sometimes helps re-indexing and removing/re-adding knowledge sources but may not immediately clear the stale index.
    • Emptying the recycle bin removes files from user view but does not affect retention holds or index latency.
    • Re-deploying the agent does not impact the search index state. Sometimes we need to allow up 24 hours for the search index to update.

    1. Has the file been removed from both the first-stage and second-stage SharePoint Recycle Bin?
      1. We are not on an on-premise SharePoint Server. We are using SharePoint Online which does not have a second-stage SharePoint Recycle Bin.
    2. Have you allowed 24–48 hours for SharePoint search indexing and Copilot Studio synchronization to fully propagate the deletion?
      1. Yes, it has been 2 weeks since this issue started.
    3. Have you tried removing the SharePoint knowledge source, saving and republishing the agent, then adding the knowledge source back and republishing again?
      1. Yes, it did not work.

Delete in recycle bin and then click here and delete from there too:
