PowerApp error when embedded in SharePoint page.

Hello,

I have a very simple app that requests 3 pieces of information, then the user clicks on OK. The PowerApps saves the 3 pieces of information to a SharePoint list.

I have a second flow that, when an item is created, it sends an email V2 to an address with the details of what has been submitted.

The app works in the test environment and when clicking on the direct link. If I embed the app into Sharepoint (Microsoft PowerApps preview) it works when I first embed it, but if I save or publish the page I get the below error:

ERROR:
Failed to retrieve PowerApp details.

CALL STACK:
Error: Failed to retrieve PowerApp details.
at https://res-1.cdn.office.net/files/sp-client/sp-powerapps-webpart_en-us_65bfeb6a0944620cea9f.js:1:16462

I have sucessfully embedded PowerApps before, I tried searches on this, I have troubleshooted using CoPilot and even ended up rebuilding the whole app and flows and it is still not working.

Things to note:

It is a standard SharePoint page (not wiki or any other type).
I have full permissions on the page.
I have published the app and it is shared to me.
Nothing in the flows would cause this issue (I built an empty version that was just the submit button which did nothing and it still produced an error).
If I try to embed a working PowerApp I have previously used (lets call it complicatedApp) into the same SharePoint page, it fails with the same error.
If I go to the page where complicatedApp is embedded (and working), and embed the new, simple app, it fails but the original PowerApp still works.

So I am thinking there is something stopping me from embedding any new apps into SharePoint and any new embedded apps causes an error. Any suggestions?

    Hi @FettlinTyke,

Seems you’ve done thorough troubleshooting already, including rebuilding the app and flows, yet the "Failed to retrieve PowerApp details" error persists after embedding and publishing the app in SharePoint using the PowerApps preview web part.

First thing first: please Check Microsoft 365 Service Health Dashboard for any ongoing issues with Power Apps or SharePoint integration.

Can you plase take a chance to witch from the Preview web part to the stable Microsoft PowerApps web part if available, as the preview version is more prone to errors?

Can you please try this step if not already?
Remove the PowerApps web part completely, clear browser cache, then re-add it with the app ID or URL freshly copied from Power Apps.

One more workaround: please  embed the app using the Embed web part with the app’s web link instead of the PowerApps web part

I am sure some clues I tried to give. If these clues help to resolve the issue brought you by here, please don't forget to check the box Does this answer your question? At the same time, I am pretty sure you have liked the response!

Your app and flow are NOT the issue
    Focus on:
    • Environment consistency
    • Web part re-binding
    • Metadata refresh

I am getting exactly the same issue which, I think, started last Friday. I will be logging a ticket with Microsoft as they might not be aware this is happening. It doesn't affect apps that had earlier been embedded in a SharePoint page with the Power Apps web part, only new ones.

    Hi @Haque,

I am unable to check the health dashboard at the moment but have asked an Admin to check.

PowerApps preview is the only option available unfortunately so cannot test this.

I had forgotten to say but I also trialled various solutions in a private browser but I have also now cleared the cache with the same issues.

Finally, I can embed the app using embed rather than powerapps. It looks awful as you cannot change the size of the embed window as it was designed for the Vertical Section so it is tall and narrow so not really a solution long term. That aspect ratio does not lend itself to the data input I am doing.

@RobElliott, thanks for the response. I will give it a few days and if the issue does not appear to have solved itself then I will also raise a ticket. It is not urgent, but it is incredibly frustrating when I cannot close out such an easy task.

    Hello,

We’re seeing the same issue here.

Previously added apps embedded in SharePoint using the Power Apps web part are still working without any problems. However, any newly added apps, or even older apps that previously worked and are added again, are failing. This is happening on the same site as well as on new sites and pages.

    A few details from testing

    • When adding the web part, pasting in either the app URL or App ID displays the app correctly while the page is still in edit mode.
    • Once the page is saved or republished, the issue appears.
    • After that, the web part seems to break completely and has to be deleted and re-added

We have already checked the following:

    • No app permission issues
    • No SharePoint site permission issues
    • Apps and sites can both be accessed separately without any problem
    • Nothing obvious in Microsoft 365 Service Health
    • Nothing obvious in Power Platform Admin Center service health
    • Could not find anything listed under known issues
    • Private/incognito browser made no difference

This looks like a problem with the SharePoint Power Apps web part itself, rather than with the app or permissions.

We’ll probably wait a few days before raising it, but it is now blocking work on our side.

Also AU Based, not sure where else effect. No results found other than this fourm of others having the issue, seems to have broken over the last 1-2 months. Will be rasing an support ticket later in the day.

Hi, I’m experiencing exactly the same issue and noticed the same behavior as @RobElliott.

Older applications already embedded in SharePoint pages still work as expected, and if we duplicate one of those web parts on the same page, it initially works as well.

However, as soon as we try to add a new Power Apps web part or edit and save the duplicated one the error appears, even if we simply copy and paste the exact same app link.

Another thing I have noticed is that existing, working embedded apps allow you to edit them/get the link. Any new ones that you create which generate the error do not allow you to edit properties; they are stuck on the toolbox ribbon.

We're having the same issue here, everything was fine until this week. Microsoft have clearly broken something. Again.

To reiterate what other people have said and what we are experiencing:

All existing apps that have been embedded work. All apps work when run outside of Sharepoint (previews, web links etc.) but whenever any app is tried to be embedded on a Sharepoint site (whether or not it is already embedded elsewhere) it just gives this error:

    Something went wrong

If the problem persists, contact the site administrator and give them the information in Technical Details.

This is also happening to us and it includes apps that were added years ago.  Oddly, one site is not showing the error. I tried adding that app to one of the sites with the error and it also shows an error.  The working site has Enhanced PowerApps Feature turned on.  The site that is not working does not even have that option.
