Action tools suddenly not connected

I created an agent in Copilot Studio. I published my agent to Teams channel. I didn't do anything in my copilot studio. I just tried to test it through Teams, but today I check my agent through Copilot Studio and see my Action Tool is not connected (picture 1). Why does this happen? How to resolve this? Thanks in advance!

This is expected behavior.
Action tools in Copilot Studio rely on Power Platform connections, which can disconnect due to token expiry, connector updates, or environment/user context changes, even if you didn’t modify the agent.

Fix: Open the action --> reselect or re‑authenticate the Word Online (Business) connection --> save --> republish the agent.
Best practice: Use a shared service account connection instead of a personal one to avoid unexpected disconnects.

There’s no single fixed time, but most Power Platform connector access tokens expire in ~1 hour.

What actually happens in practice:

Access token: ~60 minutes
Refresh token: typically days to ~90 days (rolling), unless invalidated
Re‑auth can happen earlier due to:

Password change
MFA / Conditional Access policy changes
Connector or environment updates
Personal (non‑service) account used for the connection

Why you saw this:
Even though you didn’t change anything, the stored connection lost its valid token and Copilot Studio flagged the action as disconnected.

Best practice:
Use a shared service account + dedicated connection to minimize unexpected expirations.

Hi @CU15090955-0,

short question. after you try to trigger the tool throw chat. does it ask you to connect to it? or it throws error?

did you add the tool manualy or created the agent throw description. if you create the agent throw description you will need to click on the tool and connect it manually.

click the drop down and connect if you didnt do that already.
