Hi there, thanks for the details - happy to help with both parts.

    1. The error when using SharePoint as a knowledge source

The most common reason SharePoint knowledge fails in an embedded agent is authentication, and Learn is clear on the requirements:

    • When an agent uses SharePoint as a knowledge source, generative answers are made on behalf of the signed-in user, using the authentication option you configure on the agent. SharePoint content is never anonymous - the user must be authenticated and must have access to that SharePoint content.
    • Check your agent's auth under Settings → Security → Authentication. The options are No authentication, Authenticate with Microsoft, and Authenticate manually. For SharePoint/Graph-backed knowledge, an identity that can be passed to SharePoint is required - "No authentication" can only reach public resources.
    • After changing authentication, republish the agent; changes can take time to propagate.

    2. Letting external users access the bot in Power Pages

    • Agents created from Power Pages (Set up workspace → AI assistance → Agents → Site agent) use Generic OAuth 2 with the token pass-through method. Per Learn, this enables the agent to work seamlessly with all identity providers configured for the site, including support for anonymous users.
    • You control who can use it by assigning the appropriate web roles to make the agent available to your intended visitors.
    • Note the trade-off: an anonymous/external visitor won't have a SharePoint identity, so a SharePoint knowledge source that requires sign-in won't return results for them. For external users, public knowledge sources are the reliable option.
