Issue with attachment control outside the form

I’m encountering an issue in Canvas app that allows users to raise requests with attachments, which are then reviewed by the admin via the Model-Driven app.

However, in some cases, we’ve observed that the attachment file becomes corrupted or fails to open properly when a user uploads it through a Canvas app and then attempts to download it from a Model-driven app. In certain instances, the downloaded file does not open. Interestingly, if the user re-uploads the same file and then downloads it again from the Model-driven app, it works as expected.

    Hi,

This issue happens when the Attachment control is placed outside the Edit Form, which can cause the file to be saved incorrectly in Dataverse and result in corrupted or unreadable downloads in the Model-Driven app. To fix this, use one of the following solutions:
    • Place the Attachment control inside an Edit Form connected to your Dataverse table so the form can correctly handle file metadata and encoding during upload.
    • Submit the form using SubmitForm(FormName) to ensure the attachment is stored properly.
    • If you cannot use a form, upload the file using a Patch to the Annotation table and include all required fields such as documentbody (base64), filename, mimetype, subject, and the related lookup field.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Hi Inogic,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I cannot use attachments inside the form, and I also cannot use a separate entity to store the file. To save the file, I’m passing it to a Power Automate flow.
