Hi everyone,

we are using Copilot Studio with a Dataverse tool that searches a table.
The Row filter ($filter) is set to “Fill dynamically using AI”, and the AI customization prompt builds the OData query automatically ( using the filter instruction) When we run the tool directly from the agent, it works perfectly — AI generates the filter and retrieves the records.
But when we call the same tool from a Topic, Copilot still prompts the user with:

“Please provide the OData filter you would like to use for searching the Dataverse table…”

Has anyone found a way to prevent this prompt and let AI handle the filter automatically when the tool is invoked from a Topic?

Basic reason, the scope of this is different from a Topic and the Agent, because the scope of the instructions is different. So you cannot have the Topic just do it OOB like you can at the Agent Instruction level.. Annoying yes, but still the reason.

Can you tell me where the instructions are that build the filter. You said in the Prompt... but that seems out of place based on how I read what you have.

Can you help me by showing me your topic and the "logical" flow of how you would do it without the topic that works and with the topic.

My initial point stands and it IS the reason you are facing this, but now we have to figure out, how to get the Filter (from wherever) and pass that to the Topic to resolve.

That or if you have a flow with the prompt, we need to flow to directly call the topic with input parameters.
