data transfer

Hi All,

I would like to know if there is a way to transfer data from an on-premise system Dynamic 365 to a Power Apps model-driven app. Would the best approach be to use Dataflows in Power AppsExcel, CSV, or another method?

And how would I use this do I need to go field by field or tables?

Thank you,

David

So let me just clarify again and its just so that you understand and when you explain to people it will be clear.

You are not moving data to an App. You are asking to move data from an OnPremise D365 to a Dataverse Instance in the Cloud. What I do not know is if that is pure Dataverse or if its D365 in the cloud.

I ask because of licensing. If the data itself is from a Licensed D365 Sales./CE etc on premise then you cannot simply copy the data to Dataverse, even in the cloud as its not guaranteed, license wise to cover that data. I will let you worry about that with Microsoft, but I want to warn you up front as the data is... licensed to your D365 instance and I know it sounds silly but you do not own the data in a way that just lets you put it anywhere so please be careful that you have licenses to the data covered properly is all.

As for migrating the data, that part is not hard, you can even use tooling in XRMToolkit to copy the data.

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!

    Hi Michel,

Our goal is to move the Project, Account, and Contact tables from Dynamics 365 into our current Power Apps model-driven app. These tables already exist in the app, and we simply want to take the data from Dynamics 365 and load it into the model-driven app.

We are not looking to sync data back to Dynamics 365; this would be a one-way migration. At this point, I’m still unsure whether all fields from each table need to be included.

I’m still unsure whether we will need all the fields from each table. Would updating the data afterwards present any issues if only some fields are included?

    Thank you

    David

When you say transfer to a model-driven app, I want to verify you understand that its moving data into Dataverse, not into the App.

How much data are you referring too? Have many tables? Do you want to re-sync the data back to the Onpremise or are you completely migrating to Online?

I am trying to verify if you expect an all up MIgration, or if you just want to build business apps in the cloud but are not worried about updating data to your ONPremise D365?
