List component: filtering data base on logged in user

Hi all,

I'm currently working on building a site using Power Pages.

I need to filter the data displayed on a List, using new list component, to show only data allowed to be shown to the logged in user.

We have a table in dataverse with all information of all the centers (PK is centerID) and another table UserCenter where there is a row for every center that an user can see.

The problem is how to filter this information using the relationship. I've found that the list supports fetchXML filter (at Power Pages Admin page), but it doesn't show the operator eq-userid of FetchXML.

Is there a way to implement this filter?

Any other suggestion about how to implement it?

Thanks on advances.

    Hi,

For Power Pages, I'd recommend using Table Permissions rather than relying solely on FetchXML filters. This is both more secure and aligns with how Power Pages is designed to filter data per user.

    In your scenario:
    • Center table contains all centers.
    • UserCenter table maps contacts/users to the centers they can access.
Create a relationship between the tables and configure a Table Permission on the Center table using a parent/child or account/contact relationship path through UserCenter. Power Pages will then automatically return only the records the logged-in user is authorized to see.

If you're using the new List component, support for FetchXML operators such as eq-userid may be limited, so Table Permissions are generally the recommended approach for user-specific filtering.

I'd focus on implementing the security model with Table Permissions first and use FetchXML only for additional filtering or sorting requirements.

    Thanks & Regards,
